1905: Boffalora’ s Band on a trip to Intra with the components of Mutua Volontaria . Those people would be the first music fans to found Boffalora’s Band in 1908.
In the outline of the cultural associations that work in Boffalora, the Band represents a good and reinforced reality because it has been on activity since 1908 .
The Band, that is followed by the whole village with love, scans all the important events, because it is the only “soundtrack” of the village: with its presence it cheers lots of shows and it adds solemnity to some celebrations and processions. It promotes, during the year, two concerts which, on the Epiphany day and on the first Saturday of summer, assemble a lot of people that come in the Oratory hall, also from other villages out of Boffalora’s limits.Besides, in the contest of the most famous festival of the area, “La Festa Da La Sucia”, Boffalora’s band organizes the “Evening of Bands”, a very important event at which some different bands that come from the next villages take part. Undoubtedly, what contributes in a relevant manner to transform these musical events into a success, is the high quality level reached by the musicians: the patient – and impeccable – work of a teacher who graduated at the academy of music of Milanand has moulded the Band’s members in a well working group, which is artistically very strong, particularly considering that all the musicians are dilettantes . In order to reach good results, in the ambitious world of music, to back up the good music and the popular traditions, and to give currency to the teaching, it is essential to trust some expert elements, but also young people who are able and can guarantee an efficient“generational change”: as regards this last point, the music school is, in a certain way, the “cream of Boffalora’s Band”. The teacher himself gives lessons to the students to improve their talent: every week he trains them with solfeggio lessons and with musical instruments lessons, in order to insert them in the Band .

Not only the school service is very skilled, but can also be accessible to everyone who requires it and it is completely free: the initiative has merit, certainly, but it is also heavy, because our Band lives only with the generosity of our private fans and of the town administration . Also the whole board of directors is made up of people who work free in the complicated work of organization and coordination . A lot of efforts have been prized: on the 20th December 1996, in Izimbardi Palace, a Boffalora’s Band representative was given the prestigious “Premio Riconoscenza”, a good gratification of 10 years operatingby the province president Livio Tamberi . With cardinal Martini, prosecutor Borrelli and lots of town authorities’ presence (with also the major Umberto Re), the president Angelo Galliti, who died in 1998, took the gold medal. He was a person who loved the Band and spent a lot of time for it. This heavy bereavement had made us sad for the year 1998, during which there had been some important news like the opening of a new and beautiful seat in the oratory square. That year was supposed to be a happy year because of the celebrations for the desired goal of 90th association anniversary, that has been crowned with the trip to Harnosand (Sweden) where our Band was the representative of Milan province. Nowadays Paolo, Angelo Galliti’s son,is the president that leads Boffalora’s Band.
